First American Hustle Screenings: Jennifer Lawrence is on Track for Oscar nomination #3

That's right! The biggest question mark in this year's Oscar race has finally been unveiled. Kris Tapley of incontention.com reports that after many test screenings and editing sessions, Sony Pictures held a screening of the film for various press members, among them are SAG members who will be voting on this year's nominations in just a few weeks.

The film boasts an incredibly starry cast that will obviously be catnip to SAG committee members, who might just nominate the film for their top honor, Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. The film hopes to join frontrunner 12 Years A Slave and hopeful August: Osage County, two other films that have very big and, in the case of

Though official reviews are embargoed, many of those who were lucky enough to see the film have posted brief reactions of the film, and it seems that the reaction is very positive (even those who weren't overall impressed with the film as a whole are ecstatic about the performances).

While I may have overestimated Amy Adams' and Christian Bales' performances (which are being positively received but now in the way I predicted, especially in the case of Adams who seems to be attracting some mixed notices), I seem to have underestimated Jennifer Lawrence's and Bradley Cooper's supporting turns. Lawrence especially, has received unanimous praise. Pete Hammond of deadline.com reports:

"...Especially Lawrence; she is simply dazzling as Bale’s wife, a total knockout scene-stealer throughout. If she hadn’t already won last year as Best Actress forSilver Linings Playbook, there is no doubt she might be unbeatable here. At 23 years old and the star of this weekend’s all-time November record breaker,The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, she may well become the frontrunner anyway to take back-to-back Academy Awards after this performance is seen. It’s prime Oscar bait. The actors, including voters I spoke to afterward, were clearly blown away." (you can read the rest of his analysis here.)

With another Hunger Games blockbuster to boost her profile (not to mention more acclaim for her individual performance) that Best Supporting Actress nomination is seeming more and more likely.
