On the heels of the explosive success of "Gone Girl", author Gillian Flynn's second novel "Dark Places" has a film adaptation that is being fast tracked for release. Headlined by Academy Award winner Charlize Theron, the film also stars Nicholas Hoult, Chloƫ Grace Moretz and Christina Hendricks.
Unlike "Gone Girl", however, the film's screenplay is not being adapted by Flynn, and does not have a big name director behind the camera. Gilles Paquet-Brenner is directing and wrote the screenplay.
The film's plot centers on the murder of an entire family, the Days. As a child, Libby (Theron) escaped the brutal murder of her mother and sisters. She says her brother Ben (Corey Stoll) was behind it, but was never really sure, but testified against her brother anyway. Now years later, a group called The Kill Club is re-opening the investigation. Lyle Wirth (Hoult) hires Libby to track down key evidence to free Ben from jail and find the true killer.
