Meryl Streep continues to wow us all with each new role she takes; after breaking her own incredible record for the most Oscar nominations by an actor/actress last year with her memorable performance in "Into the Woods", she's back again. This time, she's teaming up with "Juno" screenwriter Diablo Cody and director Jonathan Demme ("Rachel Getting Married" and "Silence of the Lambs").
"Ricki and the Flash" sees Meryl Streep starring as an aging rock star who puts her career on hold when her daughter's (played by Streep's real life daughter Mamie Gummer) fiancé breaks off their engagement. Ricki, however, isn't warmly received by the family she abandoned to pursue a career in music, and must come to terms with the void caused by her absence.
The film, being released August 7, seems to have the same biting humor of "Juno", with the heavy family drama that made "Rachel Getting Married" such a classic. At the center, Streep's performance seems to be the centerpiece. She looks more relaxed and at home than in her recent awards bait ("Into the Woods", "The Iron Lady") and you can bet this will be a huge Oscar play for the awards magnet. She also has the British feminist film "Suffragette" this year, which will boost her profile.
Either way, it's safe to say we'll be seeing Streep again at next year's ceremony.
