Nicole Kidman's Grace of Monaco and Steve Carrel's Foxcatcher moved to the 2014 film season.

The Hollywood Reporter reports that Nicole Kidman's Oscar bait biopic on actress Grace Kelly has been moved from this fall to spring of next year:

"The Weinstein Co. no longer plans to release Grace of Monaco, a drama in which Oscar winner Nicole Kidman portrays actress-turned-princess Grace Kelly, in time to qualify for this year's Oscar race. A limited release originally had been set for Nov. 27, and Kidman, by virtue of her past awards success, has been mentioned as a possible contender. But The Hollywood Reporter has learned that TWC has decided the film needs more time to be completed, and, according to sources, will be released during spring 2014, positioned more as a commercial entry than an awards play. TWC did not immediately respond to requests for comment." The announcement comes as a bit of a shock, as a very stylized teaser was released on the internet just a few days before the announcement (you want watch it here). The film was also discussed at this year's Cannes Film festival, where Nicole Kidman and Harvey Weinstein presented some footage to a very eager audience, hyping it up considerably. The film was directed by Olivier Dahan, the same man who directed La Vie En Rose, which won Marion Cotillard an Oscar back in 2008.

It's probably for the best, as this year's Best Actress competition is very fierce, with former winners Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Emma Thompson, Judi Dench, and Meryl Streep all duking it out for a slot (2 of those ladies are in films backed by Weinstein). The Weinstein's also have a lot of films on their plate this year, from Sundance indie Fruitville Station, to Oprah's Oscar bet The Butler, August Osage County, Philomena, and Mandella: Long Walk To Freedom. To say it's a crowded year is an understatement. This is the same company that has championed the last 3 Best Picture Oscar winners, so it's safe to say they know what they're doing.

In addition, Deadline reports that the film Foxcatcher has been moved to 2014 as well, instead of premiering in December. This comes as a bit of a disappointment because there was a considerable amount of buzz around Steve Carrell, who has his first dramatic role since Little Miss Sunshine back in 2006. The film also stars past nominee Mark Ruffalo, and Channing Tatum.
